Many hands came together to create 18q and with much gratitude we acknowledge those hands that held ours along the way.
Paul Van Opdenbosch - Animator Awesomeness
To be honest Paul and I met kind of by default when some previous arrangements I had put in place fell through - and what a piece of luck that was! The animations he has created for the film creatively bring to life the microscopic world of our DNA. We weren't going for a scientific representation per se but rather wanted to create a sense of the "unknown" and the "unreal" and separate the microscopic treatment or "medical" story from the reality of our lives. Paul is also an academic with Queensland University of Technology and his work on our film has been recognised at Desktop Magazine's - The Project Wall
You can view segments of the animation or visit his website at Dropped Robots.

Nicole Bourke - Editor Extraordinaire
Nic and I had worked together in 2006 when she kept a watchful eye on continuity in the short film, Car Pool. Some time after the completion of Car Pool Nicole ventured into the editing suite and has since edited a number of short films, TVC's and more recently her first feature film, Dartworth. We have taken this long journey together and have lived Ken Burn's Can we fix it - yes we can... but can you just keep that camera steady please.....
Tfer Mader - Sounding out, sounding board, soundie....
I met Tfer at Uni when I wandered into a class to learn a little more about sound production (still quite a bit to learn as Tfer will tell you). She has worked on many, many films including Phoebe Hart's award winning documentary, Orchids - my intersex adventure. Whilst making this film we have seen Tfer branch out in a joint venture with John Wilsteed creating LCR , a sound production company, fall in love with and marry Michael, become a mother to a truly remarkable soul, Perry and still arrive here at the end of a rather long journey. Professional, remarkable, formidable.
On Camera.......whose turn is it now??

Musicians Extraordinaire............
Dr Naomi Sunderland is not only a gifted musician but is also a post doctoral research fellow who has generously allowed us to use a number of her tracks from her Red Dirt Road Album in the film. You'll find Naomi's name also pops up in numerous other places including her work 'Missing discourses: concepts of joy and happiness in disability'
Phil Slade - composer extraordinaire lent his more than considerable talent to the opening track which also features throughout the film. Phil also composed the music for our short "Inside Story" . He is truly Philustrious........
